They say that tree nuts as brain food is a myth but it is a fact that tree nuts can cause allergy and might potentially kill you.
Tree nuts or nuts that grow from trees such as pistachios, walnuts and almonds might appear harmless and quite delicious for many. But for an estimated 1.8 million Americans with tree nut allergy, tree nuts can be deadly. Not to be confused with allergy to peanuts which are considered legumes however, doctors have found that a person with tree nut allergy is most often allergic to peanuts also. This may be due to the fact that peanuts and tree nuts are often packaged and produced in the same production line thus, the high possibility of cross-contamination. On the other hand, there are some people who developed an allergy only to a specific type of tree nut.

Symptoms of tree nut allergy include itching of the throat, sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, hives on the skin, itching of the skin, eczema or swelling of the skin. Some people with high intolerance of tree nuts can develop allergies by simply smelling them or upon skin contact. When diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, nausea, itching around the mouth, wheezing, trouble breathing andor rapid heartbeat occurs from consuming tree nuts, it is best to consult the doctor right away as these are more severe signs of tree nut allergy.

There are no best treatments to ward off tree nut allergy. Perhaps, the only possible way to deal with it is to avoid all kinds of nuts altogether. Sure, salads, chickens, meat-free burgers, pasta and barbecue sauces may appear nut-free for most people. But for those diagnosed with tree nut allergy, these may be unsuspecting food sources of tree nuts that are harmful to their health. Remember, tree nuts are great sources of natural and healthy oils so they may be present in most dieting foods. It is best to carefully inspect each package of food in the grocery store and scrutinize food menus to avoid the risk of fatal death.
